Our client, SON Fish Farm Limited is a Tilapia Fish Farm at Bugungu near Jinja established in 2006. SON is part of the Lake Harvest Group which is itself owned by African Century Foods (ACF). ACF’s strategy is to develop a large group of fish and chicken businesses across Africa.

In addition to SON ACF owns Lake Harvest Aquaculture in Zimbabwe and Frango King, a large vertically integrated poultry business in Mozambique. ACF is also developing a fish farm in Zambia. ACF plans to develop SON from a small scale fish farm to a 10 000tonnes per annum business in the next six years. It will consist of a fish feed mill for manufacture, tilapia farming in ponds and net cages, some processing and regional sales and distribution. They are looking for a dynamic individual to take up the post of General Manager. They are looking for a leader with high energy and drive. The individual should be very flexible and have the ability to see things (operations) holistically.

The position reports to the Chief Operating Officer based outside Uganda. The position has three direct subordinate staff (Financial Controller, Production Manager, Sales and Distribution Manager) that are heads of their functions.

JOB PROFILE
• Provide leadership and vision to the company by assisting the Board and staff with the development of long range and annual plans, and with the evaluation and reporting of progress on plans.

• Oversee lake and farm operations.

• Ensure quality standards are met in the processing plant.

• Oversee market studies and come up with innovative ways of satisfying customers.

• Management of the human resources.

• Oversee all sales and marketing strategies and campaigns.

• Manage the cold chain distribution including the fleet of vehicles.
