Head of Training (HOT)

Job Description: We are retained by the Insurance Institute of Uganda, (IIU) to identify competent Ugandans to fill the posts of Chief Executive Offi cer and Head of Training based in their headquarters in Kampala. The Institute was established in 1964 and has 60 corporate and 1000 individual members. The Institute is the training arm of the insurance industry in Uganda. Its main objective is to provide and maintain a central organization for the promotion of effi ciency, progress, welfare, knowledge and general development among persons engaged or employed in the insurance sector. The Insurance (Amendment) Act 2011 has empowered the Institute to meet its goals and stimulate the industry in general. The 2012 to 2016 strategic plan is already in place.Our Client is looking for competent persons to lead the implementation of IIU’s strategic programs. The posts are tenable for a period of 3 years and carry competitive benefitsThe Head of Training, HOT will report to the CEO and will provide leadership in area of training and capacity building. He/she will be responsible for:• Establishing and providing academic leadership of the Institute including responsibility for management, development and quality assurance of the Institute teaching, research and student support services• Overseeing the development of the curriculum for IIU courses• Development and management of training staff• Overseeing teaching, examination and supervision of students research, community outreach services.• Development, implementation and maintenance of appropriate academic, infrastructural planning and monitoring processes• Allocation of duties to departmental staff and coordinating to ensure the effective performance of the department’s functions• Promoting excellence in learning, teaching, research, research education and professional activities• Ensuring collaboration with other Institutes and relevant organisations academic• Representing the Institute’s academic interests nationally and internationally
