Assistant Provincial Education Coordinator ( FULL TIME )

The Church of the Province of Uganda (Church of Uganda) is a member of the Anglican Communion. The Church is commissioned to carry out Christ’s mission of teaching, healing and nurturing people so that they may have an abundant life and build an evangelistic, loving, caring, worshipping, peaceful and just community. The Church of Uganda is seeking to recruit suitable persons to fill the positions listed below:

(2) Title: Assistant Provincial Education Coordinator Reports to: Provincial Education Coordinator
Job Purpose:
To assist the Provincial Education Coordinator in ensuring that the mission of the Church of Uganda and its interests in Education are fulfilled both within Dioceses and Church founded Education Institutions
Core Duties:

a. Children’s Ministry
• Mobilize resources, Plan, Budget for, Direct, Promote, Coordinate and Monitor Child Ministry Programs
• Develop capacity and support Children Workers in all COU Dioceses
• Develop and maintain partnerships and networks for the Ministry
• Procure, Produce and Review Christian teaching materials
• Keep an inventory of the ministry’s assets and property

b. Education Main
In consultation with the Provincial Education Coordinator:
• Coordinate theological colleges(education) activities
• Support COU dioceses in building education capacity
• Advocate, promote and support education of the girl child, orphans and people with special needs(disabilities, learning impairment, etc)

c. Provincial Resource and Book Centre
• Oversee the establishment of the Provincial and Diocesan Resource and Book Centres
• Ensure effective distribution of CRE materials and other Christian literature to COU schools and churches
• Keep an inventory of assets and property of the resource centre
• Establish a database and statistical data bank for the department

Requirement:

Person specifications:
• At least a first degree qualification with bias in Theology
• Diploma or qualifications in Education is a must
• At least 3 years teaching experience at post primary level and/or 2 years work experience in children’s church
• Committed to the values and faith of Church of Uganda and with proven passion and love for children
• High integrity
• 35-45 years
Competencies required:
• Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
• Proposal and Report writing skills
• Training and facilitation skills
• Independent decision maker and self-driven
• Computer literacy
