THE ROLE
CCL has been requested by a major international oil company to provide Environmental Supervisors for Seismic Operations to be based in Uganda. 1 year contract. 4x4 rotation. Attractive rate / terms and conditions.
THE PERSON
At least 5 years of experience in supervision of environment aspects in seismic operations or in petroleum industry. Participate in the HSE committee meetings, include environmental issues; be proactively involved in daily operational meetings (held nightly and weekly). Involved in day to day field operational activities including but not limited to assessing plan of field operations from environmental (seismic) perspective, line sketch documentation, enforcement of code of environmental conduct by all field sections, oversee activities in locations classified as highly sensitive.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Ideal candidates will hold an Environmental degree or equivalent qualification. Proven leadership capabilities, strong reporting and organisational skills. Autonomous, self motivating but active team player. RSES, Advanced Fire fighting, Advanced First aid (OGP2 level 2), advanced cause tree analysis, Hazid-Hazop techniques, Industrial health and hygiene, Risks and the human factor, Gestures and postures, Electrical risk: accreditation for non-electrical personnel, Crisis management and communication, and Management of major emergencies certificates required. Excellent communication skills, including fluent written and spoken English, essential. French also advantageous. Must be eligible to obtain permits to reside and work in Uganda.

• Bachelors Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Communication, Environmental Management, Renewable Energy, Engineering, Law, or other related studies or a Diploma with two years of experience in any of the above fields;

• Demonstrated initiative in community development;

• Excellent commitment and ability to stay on the programme for the specified duration is a must;

• Detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task under limited supervision;

• Computer literacy, familiarity with GIS applications;

• Knowledge of natural resource management including review of EIAs and compliance monitoring is an added advantage.

Required skills and competences

• Ability to implement community mobilization, awareness-raising, communication, advocacy, lobbying and capacity building (e.g. training, workshop facilitation and capacity building);

Interacts with the Albertine Rift-based civil society organizations (CSOs), local governments, regional CSO networks on petroleum (SANEP, BAPENECO, NANEP), Civil Society Coalition on Oil and Gas in Uganda (CSCO), private sector (oil companies and their contractors) line ministries including but not limited to Ministries of Energy and Mineral Development, Water and Environment, Tourism, Trade and Industry and related departments and agencies among others.
