Analyst III

The HIV/AIDS Division is a vital academic research and clinical center whose goals include generating new knowledge to improve the care of vulnerable patients.
The proposed Analyst III will provide regulatory and administrative support for the international SEARCH research group, in the UCSF Department of Medicine. SEARCH (Sustainable East Africa Research Collaboration) is a multinational, multidisciplinary consortium assembled to conduct research that evaluates bold health interventions at the community level that inform policy makers and funding agencies through the inclusion of health, economic and education parameters and through innovative, efficient study designs. The incumbent will serve on a multidisciplinary team consisting of clinical researchers, epidemiologists, field site directors, regulatory managers, and international colleagues and peers.

The purpose of this position is the coordination of a broad spectrum of research activities focusing on community health campaigns and HIV delivery systems as part of the SEARCH program conducted in Mbarara and Tororo, Uganda. The person in this position has the primary responsibility of supporting day-to-day research activities on site in Uganda and informational support to investigators at UCSF. This person will have additional responsibilities in protocol training and implementation, regulatory compliance according to internationally recognized ethical principles and GCP regulations, and working with the data team ensuring data quality. The incumbent will act as a liaison between UCSF Investigators, international contract employees, outside contracted laboratories, as well as regulatory officials; and perform other duties as assigned. In addition, this position will be based in Uganda with some travel to San Francisco.

Required Qualifications

- Strong computer skills and technical knowledge of software applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access;
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Time and resource management are essential for this position;
- Willingness to live in Africa (Uganda)

Physical demands:
sitting, standing, walking, bending, waist twisting, climbing stairs, reaching shoulder height and below, lifting up to 20 lbs., carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 lbs., fine finger manipulation, gross manipulation, simple/power grasp, repetitive hand/arm use; tolerance to loud noise, dust, fumes or gases, chemicals or toxic substances, latex; use of protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in GCP, ICH guidelines and regulatory procedures;
- Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, or the equivalent;
- Previous experience in a clinical research trial;
- Overseas experience
