Financial Controller
Job Title: FINANCECONTROLLER Department: FinanceReports to: CHIEF FINANCE MANAGER / GROUP COO / MD.Job Grade: ManagerAge Limit: 35 to 40 years.Remuneration:Job Purpose/ ObjectiveTo Plan, direct, control and coordinate all the operations of the department to ensure the set objectives are achieved in a timely and professional manner.Duties and Responsibilities1. Oversee the preparation of the company’s annual budget and advise top management in strategic financial planning and decision making2. Initiate and guide the preparation of forecasts of company revenue, working capital, expenditure and return on investment. 3. Oversee the accounts and finance department as well as stores and IT department. Oversee and ensure that ERP is effectively used across the company 4. Coordinate the set up, updating and enforcement of cost accounting; treasury management; risk and taxation and receivables policies and procedures 5. Measure cost effectiveness of Group’s core activities 6. Oversee group accounting as to ensure that the accounts are prepared in line with provisions of International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards.(IFRS)7. Approve payments to suppliers in line with the Group’s financial procedures.8. Monitor the Group’s corporate liquidity through regular and accurate cash projections 9. Oversee tax planning, computation and payment of all taxes including import and export duties, corporate tax, VAT tax, PAYE among others 10. Liaising with the Tax officials in connection with audits and assessments of Taxations. Liaise with Tax consultants with regard to Tax Appeal Matters.11. Liaising with Bank Officials, Insurance officials in connection with the Financial and Insurance needs of the group.12. Perusal of all Loan agreements with the bank and insurance policies with the Insurance Company. Appraise performance of team members13. Any other duties assigned by the management.Work conditions1. The work may involve constant movements to different locations out of office.2. May require working for long hours.3. May be required on call.4. Place of Stay and work – Uganda / Kenya as per need of the companyDecision Making Authority & ResponsibilityThe Finance Controller has authority delegated by the Management as per the requirements, duties and responsibility of the job.Physical and Mental effort1. Must be mentally stable to contain stress and pressure.2. Must be of a sound mind.3. Good visibility since most times work will be done on computers.4. Sensory stability due to much concentration required for the job.Knowledge, Skills and Experience1. Computerized accounting programs2. ERP knowledge is MUST.3. Accounts payable and accounts Receivable knowledge.4. Generally accepted accounting principles5. Supervisory skills6. Team Building Skills7. Accounting and book keeping skills8. Decision making skills9. Effective verbal and listening communication skills10. Effective written communication skills11. Stress Management skills12. High level of honesty and respect13. Demonstration of sound work ethics14. Bachelor of Commerce and other related finance disciplines 15. Membership to a professional accounting body: ACCA, CFA and CPA.16. Over 5 years experience in similar role. (Preferably 3 years at East Africa).
