Description
Key Responsibilities
Futures Group is recruiting for an Information Technology (IT) Specialist to provide technical assistance, training, and coaching for an upcoming USAID/Uganda project to implement a Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning program in Uganda. This program is central to USAID/Uganda’s broader organizational learning and development policy effort called Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA), that is intended to create the conditions to enable USAID/Uganda to become a more adaptive, modern and effective development enterprise.
* Develop new and/or adapt existing computerized performance reporting systems, including enhanced user interfaces and compatibility across reporting systems.
* Enable collection and synthesis of different types of data (quantitative and qualitative) to promote the CLA agenda.
* Support enhanced data management and access, data visualization and manipulation, and presentation techniques.
* Develop a dynamic dashboard with GIS tools that will enhance use of data for learning
* Provide training and mentoring to USAID and implementing partner staff on using information systems, generating reports, and analyzing and using data to support learning and strategic decision-making.
* Assist stakeholders to assess the cost effectiveness and efficiency of new or modified reporting systems and their roll-out.
Qualifications:
* Graduate degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
* 5 years professional experience in database development, web-based reporting systems, management information systems, health informatics, GIS tools, monitoring and evaluation, information storage and security, data quality assurance, mobile/SMS technologies, and other relevant technologies.
* Experience using online and new technologies for knowledge sharing and collaboration a plus.
* Demonstrated experience assessing users’ data needs and designing user-friendly IT solutions to promote strategic decision-making throughout the project life cycle.
* Ability to work in multi-cultural settings and mentor local staff and partners.
* Experience with USAID and other in-country reporting systems desirable.
* Familiarity with health, economic growth, agriculture, and/or democracy and governance issues desirable.
* Fluency in written and spoken English required.
