DISCRIPTION OF SERVICE

The Drilling Operations Superintendent shall be responsible for the safe and efficient execution of the engineering program (drilling, completion, testing, abandonment and re-entry) of all wells operated by the Drilling & Wells department.The Drilling Operations Superintendent shall define the equipment and services required and manage the mobilization of same to the work site.The main duties will be:

- Participation in the DO/DCO Site Safety Committees, schedule of audits and Service Quality Meetings.

- Execute the drilling, completion/testing & abandonment programs.

- To ensure compliance of work programs (drilling, completion, testing and abandonment) to the relevant regulation (Statutory and Company).

- To support technical risk assessment and implement mitigating measures to support the well operations on site.

ACTIVITIES:

Health, Safety & Environment

- Corporate Health, Safety & Environment Policy, and applying Safety Management Systems.

Maintain and ensure compliance with CLIENT’s group established HSE procedures and policiesMaintain and comply with the CLIENT specific HSE procedures and local policies.Perform QHSE visits of CONTRACTOR warehousing facilities.Participate in Site Safety Committee Meetings ensuring the right management levels in the CONTRACTOR community are represented.

Operations Planning

Follow up any design modifications and upgrades of specific drilling rigs or rig service elements, where applicable.Review technical programs – drilling, testing & abandonment.Contribute to writing standard programs – drilling, testing & abandonment - and to update such documents where applicable.Assist in planning simultaneous operations (SIMOPS) with other department (i.e. civil works, seismic teams) ensuring that the highest standard of safety is achieved without compromising performance.Ensure the integration of lessons learnt into the well design and program.

Operations Execution

Ensure the safe and efficient implementation of the relevant work program - drilling, testing & abandonment of exploration & appraisal wells.Liaise with the senior drilling supervisor and discuss any anomaly detected in order to anticipate any potential or developing problems and find adequate solutions while maintaining the safety of the personnel, well in progress and the environment.Optimise the progress of the operations after discussions with the base geologists and reservoir engineers.Plan and order the interventions of all contractors from services companies not permanently present on the rig.Plan all activities and requirements; liaise with the logistic services for timely delivery.Liaise and coordinate with LOG department for safe and efficient rig positioning.Liaise and coordinate with the drilling contractor and any concerned service vendors for the safe and efficient implementation of SIMOPS.Assist on the rig site, the Senior Drilling Supervisor in case of special operations or abnormal situations.Control and manage the activity of his drilling supervisors, plan their rotation schedule, check their certification and propose complementary training.Knowledge Management (capture, validation, documentation and integration): - Ensure adequate feedback from the rig is returned to the engineering staff for integration in the operations programme.Transfer know how to Drilling Supervisor, Night Drilling Supervisor, Junior Engineers.Prepare and participate in the post well operations debrief.Assist the drilling engineer to evaluate the rig performance: Identify rig performance improvement opportunities and proffer such solutions.

Contracts, Procurement & Materials

Define the sourcing strategy for drilling rigs (CFT, Single Source,) and manage the sourcing plan including CFT process, technical & commercial evaluation with DO/COP Commercial Duets following established standards.Manage the QA/QC process during sourcing to ensure compliance with the technical specification.Support the drilling engineer (and Materials Superintendent) in the management of drilling control inventory to avoid any shortfalls in the year’s drilling and wells activity plan. This shall include but is not limited to tubular goods and cementing accessories.

Training & Development

Support the recruitment process for drilling supervisors, i.e. definition of needs, sourcing strategy, job interviews and eventual recommendation for employment.Define the training plan for younger, inexperienced junior drilling supervisors.Transfer know-how to junior drilling supervisors, serving as mentor to newly recruited drilling supervisors.

Budget & Cost Management:

Prepare and manage the annual budget for drilling rig services.Ensure correct invoicing, cost evaluation and update accordingly invoice database.Reporting:Collect and check the accuracy of the reporting from the rig and validate such reporting.Review and validate the end of well operations report.Update periodically his hierarchy of current rig safety performance concerns and notify immediately in case of any problems.

Onshore operationsMulti-rig activityHigh level of technical risks; Operations in sensitive environment; MFNP, Ramsar classified wetlands, H2S & CO2 risks, highly faulted, basement drilling, etc.High percentage of new entrants into the oil and gas industry and high turnover of experienced personnel.

QUALIFICATION AND BACKGROUND:

Position requires graduate technician with minimum of 12 years experience in the oil and gas industry, mainly in drilling, completion and testing operations.The candidate shall have;

- Broad knowledge of drilling rigs and well construction processes.

- Broad knowledge of our CLIENT Referential.

- Fluent in written and spoken English.

- Demonstrate strong and effective Health, Safety, Environmental (HSS/E) leadership.

- Ability to communicate and to write clear reports, Very well organised and detail oriented.

- Applicant should be highly motivated, self-directed, and must have the ability to interface in a multi-cultural context

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Good command spoken and written French & English
