ActionAid’s mission is to work with the poor and the ActionAid Uganda (AAU), a national development organization registered under the laws of Uganda and with a local Board seeks to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven, result-oriented individuals to fill the position above. The long-term goal of this project is to increase resource allocation to the agricultural sector by government and donors achieved through smallholder farmer movements led resource tracking, campaigns and policy engagements on inclusive policies.Job Summary: The Project Coordinator will manage the implementation of the ‘Public Financing and Agriculture Project’ in Uganda and will provide overall leadership in the planning, management and monitoring of the implementation of the project activities.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Responsible for the analysis and dissemination of agriculture policies, strategies and budgets to farmer groups, partner organizations and policy makers.Organizing and facilitating policy influencing dialogues both at regional and national level with policy makers and legislative members The incumbent will be planning and coordinating key campaign events and momentsDesigning and commissioning relevant studiesWork in close collaboration with the local rights program teams and the National Program Coordinator (Sustainable Livelihoods) to ensure timely planning and implementation of the project activities in line with the project documents.Offer ongoing assistance, capacity building and training for partners and community groupsDevelop and share quarterly work (action) plans and budget for the project, and ensure linkage of the project with broader ActionAid programs and targets.Technically support partner NGO and networks implementing national level activities related to the project activities and provide regular feedback to the program coordinator and management on the progress of the f project.Compile, write and share periodic project reports including quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis with Program Coordinator and project management team as required by ActionAid Accountability Learning and Planning systems.Mobilize, coordinate and participate in advocacy initiatives related to the project at local, national and otherwise.     Steer all field project M&E related activities including regular project monitoring, evidence generation and organizing and facilitating partner participatory and reflection events for learning among others.Steer the documentation, dissemination and sharing of learning from the project.Perform any other related activities as may be assigned by the supervisor. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicant should hold an honors Bachelor’s Degree in either Agriculture, Social Sciences, economics, development studies or environmental studies.A minimum of two to three years’ demonstrable experience performing advocacy and campaign work.  Detailed knowledge and understanding of rights based programmingComprehensive knowledge in expenditure tracking and skills in use of social accountability tools and methodsPossess a deep knowledge and understanding of government budgeting and planning processes, and as well as functioning of decentralization systemPossess a deeper understanding of current global food security debates    Possess a detailed knowledge of the national food and nutrition security policies, plans and programsExhibit a deep passion and commitment to women’s rights and understanding of gender analysis          Good knowledge of agriculture sector policies, and budget analysis            Excellent communication skills   Skills and experience in simplifying and dissemination of complex information to farmer groups and grass root communitiesPast exposure and experience in policy development work including skills in organizing policy influencing and other campaign eventsDemonstrated ability in linking and networking with broad spectrum of people and organizations.          Possess the ability and flexibility to work for long hours, under pressure.            Sound knowledge of project planning, monitoring and evaluationPast exposure and experience of facilitating workshops, working with media and public presentations, grassroots development work, and team building.All qualified and interested candidates should deliver their application letters, CVs and copies of Academic documents with details of at least three (3) referees one of which shall be from your most recent employer.
