Job Summary: The Viral Load Laboratory Technician will assist the VL Lab Technician Supervisor with viral load tests by Simple Amplification Based Assay (SAMBA) performed in Arua Referral Regional Hospital laboratory. He/ she will be also involved in the sampling of patient's blood and to collaborate with the VL Clerk in the triage and reception of patients.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Active participation in the reception and preparation of plasma samples and to ensure good condition of storage.Participation in blood sampling of patients.Participation with the clerk in the preparation of patients files; the reception of patients; and triage in event of an increased load of patients.Supporting the VL Lab Supervisor with SAMBA tests (plasmatic RNA extraction and amplification) the day of reception and to ensure that the results are given back in the specified amount of time.Supporting the VL Lab Supervisor with the sera collection and to ensure adequate condition of storage.Supporting the VL Lab Supervisor with the preparation of sample shipments for internal and external quality control.Active participation in the daily maintenance, adjustment and calibration of laboratory instruments. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:The applicant should preferably be a Novice Lab technician or possess at least two years’ experience in medical or research laboratory.Comprehensive knowledge in molecular biology methods mainly PCR and DNA/RNA manipulation will be an added advantage.Possess the ability to organize data.Possess the ability to manage and collaborate with people with different backgroundsGood working knowledge of an HIV projectAll suitably qualified and interested applicants should send their written application letters (letter of motivation) with a detailed CV indicating postal address, day phone contacts, photocopies of certified copies of academic documents and working certificates and minimum two referees to one of the following addresses:The Finance and HR Coordinator Medecins Sans Frontieres - France P.O.
