The Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council is a semi-autonomous Health Professional body under the MOH established by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Act, 1996 to regulate and supervise the provision of quality Nursing and Midwifery services to the public. Its mandate is to set and regulate standards of training and practice of nursing and midwifery and provide professional guidance for public safety. 
Job Summary: The Legal Officer will primarily advise and process all legal matters related to the Council.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The candidate should hold an honors Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognized institution; Postgraduate Diploma in Legal practice from LDC A minimum of two years’ experience in legal practice in a reputable organization;The applicant should be an Advocate of the High Court with a practicing license and member to a relevant professional body.

The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build capacity of health systems in Africa for the delivery of sustainable, high quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases through training, research and advanced clinical services. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: prevention, care and treatment; training; research; laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach programmes. Since April 2011, IDI, with funding from Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has been offering safe adult Male medical Circumcision services in Kampala as part of a comprehensive HIV prevention package for men. This initiative, branded “AMAKA -Adult Male Medical Circumcision in Kampala” is being implemented in two facilities in Kampala. IDI has received additional funding to further scale up MMC services beyond Kampala. This MMC scale up will initially involve the districts of: Kyankwanzi, Hoima, Kiboga, Masindi, Kibaale, Kiryandongo Buliisa and Kalangala among many others effective 1st October 2012.

10 STERLISATION NURSES
• Will be required to oversee the sterilization of surgical instruments ‘and to provide quality nursing care to MMC clients
Ensure regular and consistent availability of sterilized surgical kits as required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Over see the sterilization of all surgical instruments
• Collect, clean, disinfect, pack and sterilize surgical instruments.
• Ensure that sterilization of surgical Instruments is done in accordance with agreed policies and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain records and inventory according to standard ethical requirements ensuring that confidentiality is maintained at all times

The Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non¬government, non- profit HIV research program that was established in 2002 as a result of a memorandum of understanding between Makerere University and The Henry M. Jackson foundation for Advancement of Military Medicine Inc.’of USA (HJF).The primary purpose of MUWRP is to develop, evaluate and provide interventions to mitigate communicable disease threats of public health importance to Uganda. The Project is looking for suitable candidates to fill the positions below:

POSITION TITLE:Nurses and/or Surgical Theatre
Assistants (2 positions)I
LOCATION: Kayunga and Mukono Districts. I

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Under the direction of MUWRP supervisors, provide nursing and/or surgical theatre assistant services as a member of a fixed or mobile safe male circumcision team
2. Assist in minor surgical procedures as per WHO/MOH guidelines under the guidance of technical advisors.
3. Conduct Health Education session and/or routine physical examinations.
4. Ensure patient safety and confidentiality.
5. Participate in complete, timely and accurate documentation of all surgical and follow-up procedures.
6. Maintain Surgical instruments and theatre equipment
7. Other duties as requested.

Requirement:QUALIFICATIONS:1.Registered / Enrolled Nurse or Midwife.2.At least 2 years of post-qualification professional experience.3.Experience in HIV/AIDS Prevention, care and Treatment including Antiretroviral Therapy.4.Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.5.Commitment to accomplishing designated goals and targets in service provision.6.Fluency in verbal and written English, able to fluently read and speak Luganda.7.Experience of living and working in a rural environment. 8.Must be registered with the Nurses and Midwives council.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Will be required to assist the surgical teams during safe MMC procedures and to provide quality nursing care .He/ she must treat each client with dignity and respect.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist surgical teams during MMC procedures.
• Provide nursing care to clients attending the clinics
• Assess clinical patient problems
• Cleaning, disinfecting and packing surgical instruments
• Treat each client with dignity, respect and understanding in accordance with IDI’s philosophy
• Maintain nursing records as required cognizant of the standard ethical requirements,
• Ensure procedures are carried out safely in accordance with agreed policies
• Participates as a full member of the expanded
AMAKA interdisciplinary team

Requirement:

• Preferably completion of a registered Nurses Training from a recognized institution
• Minimum of two years work experience in a clinical and surgical setting

1. Nurses
(2 Positions)

Reporting to the Chief Nurse, the position is responsible for all nursing functions including taking vital signs and other observations, administering injections, carrying out dressing, running the maternal and child health clinics, counselling patients on various health issues including following Doctor’s prescriptions.

Ideal candidate must be:-

At least 25 years of ageO level Education, C PlainHolder of a Diploma in Nursing (KRCHN) from a recognised InstitutionRegistered with the Nursing council of KenyaAt least two years working experience in a busy health facility.Proficiency in use of computers and familiarity with Health MIS is desirableTraining and experience in PMTCT,ART,Immunization and FP is an added advantage2. Pharmaceutical Technologist
(1 position)

Reporting to the Incharge - Pharmacy, the ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of both main drug store and the dispensing pharmacy as to ensure timely availability of quality essential drugs, stock control and patient education.

In addition, the candidate will perform dispensing duties; ensure timely reorder levels and implement an accurate record Management system for the pharmacy among other responsibilities.

Prospective candidates shall be at least 25 years of age, must possess a Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from an institution accredited by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board, registered with Pharmacy and Poisons Board and has 1 year post registration experience in a busy facility.

He/she must be a person of high integrity. Sound knowledge of HMIS is desirable
