Construction Standards Engineer ReF No UM/ENG/IO/03/12 ( FULL TIME )

 Reports to:    Quality Assurance Manager

Department:      Engineering

Job Purpose:

To support the development of network construction standards and safe working practices

Key Responsibilities:

•      Develop Umeme’s electricity distribution network construction manual

•      Maintain an updated bank of electricity distribution network

•     Compile procedures and work instructions for Umeme’s engineering processes

•     Compile drawings for the various work packages for issue with line/network construction bids

•     Evaluate technical offers of network construction bids

•      Conduct field audits to check conformance to desired construction standards

•      Oversee the acquisition and management of appropriate tools by the engineering teams

•      Develop commissioning procedures for the various network components

•      Prepare safe working practices for network construction work

•      Provide technical support during review of Umeme’s contractor list

•     Research and make recommendations on trends in electricity distribution network construction standards
