PERSONAL/TECHNICAL ASSISTANT ( FULL TIME )

About this Job:

The National Planning Authority (NPA) was established by an Act of Parliament No.15 of 2002 in compliance with Article 125 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda (1995). It is a Principal Statutory Agency responsible for management of National and Decentralized Development Planning in Uganda. The primary function of the Authority is to produce comprehensive and integrated development plans for the country elaborated in terms of the perspective Vision, Long and Medium-term Plans. Following the review of the Strategic Plan and the Organization Structure, new positions have emerged. In this regard, the Authority is desirous of filling those positions.

JOB TITLE: PERSONAL/TECHNICAL ASSISTANT TO THE CHAIRPERSON

Reports to: The Executive Chairperson NPA

Main function: This is a middle managerial position in the Authority. The officer will be responsible for planning the day to day activities and assist in drafting presentations for the Chairperson in advance.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

The Senior Officer will be responsible for;

Monitoring progress of planned activities / projects in the Office of the ChairpersonCollecting data from the fieldDrafting Chairperson’s speeches , presentations and manage his protocolDrafting monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Office of the ChairpersonTaking minutes for technical meetings chaired by the Chairperson and ensuring that action points are delivered on time.Carrying out research on topical areas for specific information using electronic resources and or networking relations with internal and external key stakeholdersDrafting general replies on behalf of the Chairperson

Key Result Areas:

Produce Monthly, quarterly and Annual reports for the Office of the ChairpersonMinutes produced and circulated in timeProduce reports on the progress of planned activitiesProduce reports on research topical areas as required by the Chairperson.Requirement:

Person Specifications/ Minimum Qualifications:

An Honors Degree in Social Sciences or Economics or Development Economics or a closely related field from a recognized university.A Masters Degree in Economics or Economic Policy and Planning or Economic Policy Management or a related field from a recognized university.A related professional experience of at-least 5 yearsProfessional competence in at least one of the following areas; Economic Policy Analysis or Development ManagementMust have knowledge in carrying out research.

Be a self starter and able to work with minimal supervisionPossess critical thinking and analytical skillsBe able to network with others effectively

Additional skills or requirements:
