Organisation: Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) Duty Station:  West Nile Sub Region (Arua, Nebbi, Zombo, Yumbe, Maracha/Terego),  Acholi Sub Region (Gulu Nwoya, Amuru, Kitgum, Pader, Lamwo districts),  Lango Sub Region (Lira, Oyam, Kole, Apac, Dokolo, Amolatar, Alebtong, Otuke),  South Western Region (Ntungamo, Kabale, Kisoro, Bushenyi, Rubirizi, Nziika, Mitooma,    Rukungiri, Kanungu, Kiruhura, Ibanda, Shema, Mbarara, Isingiro), Western Region (Kibaale , Hoima,  Buliisa, Masindi, Mityana, Mubende, Kiboga, Kabarole,  Kamwenge, Kyenjojo, Kyegegwa, Kasese, Bundibugyo), Central Region (Mukono, Buikwe, Kayunga, Wakiso, Butambala, Gomba, Mpigi,   Luwero,    Nakaseke, Nakasongola, Masaka, Lwengo, Kalungu, Bukomansimbi, Rakai, Sembabule, Kalangala),  Eastern Region (Bugiri, Iganga, Namutumba, Mayuge, Kamuli, Buyende, Jinja, Kaliro,    Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwa, Sironko, Bulambuli, Mbale, Manafwa, Bududa), UgandaReports to: Principal Development OfficerThe Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) is mandated UCDA to: “Oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling the quality and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimise foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to farmers.”Job Summary: The Regional Coffee Extension Officer  will be responsible for the coordination of all the districts’ coffee activities.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  Oversee and implement coffee nursery (elite and mother garden) development programs in the Region.Actively mobilise farmers to plant coffee, distribute coffee seedlings as per existing guidelines    in collaboration with the local leadership and other stakeholders.Mentor and train farmers in good agricultural practices through demonstrations and Farm Field School sessions in order to improve coffee yields.Maintain surveillance and report on coffee diseases and pests status for necessary actions.Take part in work plan and budget development, and prepare accountability for all coffee distributed/planted within the Region.Collect coffee production and marketing data and administer questionnaires on coffee matters in the respective Region.Collect coffee samples as and when required and forward them to the Quality and Regulatory Services Department for analysis.Supervise post-harvest handling practices at farm, primary processing to ensure that quality standards are upheld.Compile and produce activity reports in line with the established reporting guidelines.Actively promote new technologies that have been developed by coffee research and   disseminate them to farmers.Work closely with other stakeholders and District Coffee platforms to promote coffee activities under the coffee production campaign.Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Management from time to time.Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The successful applicants should hold an honours Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture or Agricultural Extension Services or Agricultural Engineering or Agriculture Education;  A minimum of two or more years’ working experience in providing farmer extension services.Possess a valid motorcycle riding permit;A good knowledge of the local language and geography of the district(s) applied for (The preferred duty station must be clearly indicated on the application letters);Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;Willingness to work upcountry.All suitably qualified and interested persons should submit their applications, curriculum vitae, certified copies of academic transcripts, and telephone contacts and e-mail addresses of three referees to;- The Principal Human Resource Officer, UCDA, Coffee House, Plot 35 Jinja Road, P.O.
