Our mission is to help people living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their lives which last and spread without on-going support from Concern. Concern Worldwide Uganda is implementing the European Union funded Skills, Income and Livelihoods in Karamoja Programme (SILK). The objective of SILK is to contribute to poverty reduction through sustainable, equitable development in Moroto, Nakapiripirit and Napak districts in Karamoja.Job Summary: The Programme Officers will primarily coordinate with private sector and partners on business skills and employment components of the programme. The incumbents will also develop and implement strategies to link youth to markets. The jobholders will primarily coordinate the Functional Adult Literacy component in cooperation with relevant district and sub-county authorities. The programme officers will facilitate the youth groups through all components of the programme, submit monthly and other progress reports. The jobholders will work closely with local partners, community groups and local government. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The candidate should preferably hold a good Bachelor’s degree in Community Development and/or Business Skills or other relevant disciplines. At least five years’ experience in community development work in a challenging environment, preferably with an International NGO. The candidate should have, at minimum, a basic understanding of Ngakarimojong and be proficient in English language both oral and written; and have a strong understanding of issues affecting youth.All suitably qualified and interested candidates should send their applications and detailed CV (max 4 pages) with a covering letter, copies of relevant certificates, with day time contacts, names and addresses of three (3) work related referees’.
