Duty Station: Kampala / Dar Es Salam, UgandaReports to: Country Manager - Uganda / TanzaniaJob Summary: The Financial Controller will head the entire Finance set up of the country. He will also have functional reporting responsibility to CFO of the Group in Kenya to assist implement common policies and procedures. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Aid in establishing corporate governance, DOA, policies and procedures in the Company. Also, on an on-going basis, make recommendations to encourage the continuous improvement of financial performance and implementing relevant policies within the business. Responsible for tax planning, co-ordination, management and compliance. Should implement relevant policies and procedures in that respect. He should also create a mechanism to monitor management of government and regulatory requirements in that area. The tax planning to include all direct and indirect taxes and compliance in that respect. Offer technical leadership for Company’s Finance and Accounting Strategy, to optimise financial performance, bring about cost savings and revenue optimization and help strategic growth of the Company. Involve directly in overall financial performance of the business in terms of local norms as also Group framework with high standards of controls. Actively facilitate and ensure budgetary controls as per statutory guidelines. Complete responsibility for all statutory financial statements for the business, Group reporting, all budgets, forecasts, 5 year plans, all submissions and returns for revenue authorities and any other financial and revenue reporting. Responsible for working capital and treasury management, banking relationships, funds availability, timely reporting to banks and the Group, timely corrective actions and tight control over finance cost. Develop and nurture Finance team talent in the Company. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The Financial Controller should be a Chartered Accountant / CPA At least 12 to 15 years’ experience in financial management, managing teams, planning and budgeting, feasibilities, project management, taxation and various other financial disciplines.
