Duty Station: Kampala, UgandaEskom Uganda Limited (EUL) is a subsidiary company of Eskom Enterprises based in South Africa. Our business is operating and maintaining Nalubaale and Kiira hydroelectric Power Stations. Our mission is to be the Centre of Excellence in Power Concession Management. Job Summary: The Eskom Protection Engineer will support the Section Head Electrical in implementing the departmental plan in line with the business contractual obligations. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Carry out routine plant monitoring, forward results to the technical team and advise to improve on routine maintenanceImplement mechanisms for addressing identified stakeholder needs.Use available data to interpret future weakness of the system, improve availability and life of the plant.Report correctly system deviations and carrying out direct repairs on plantExpeditiously follow up modifications as raised by other sections and carry out quality control on all work done by other employees.Identifying problem areas on specific items of the plant, evaluate trends and have in-depth knowledge on synchronising systems.Discuss the data trends with other engineers for better results and suggest future plans before a break down is registeredFormulate technical procedures and standards when required, and ensure compliance to the set standards.Formulate procedures of certain activities and repair procedures for electrical equipment.Monitor fixing of intricate repairs and supervise intermediate staff under the same job.Develop and periodically review of protection philosophy reference documents and protection setting documents.Perform routine testing of all protection equipment and related circuitry, and ensure thai testing equipment are calibrated.Responsible for the development of a station earthing reference document and routine testing of the station earthing and related equipment.Be in position to carry out protection grading when the need arises and give sound protection advise as required.Generate technical reports for future references, conduct system engineering and write system reports.Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The candidate for the Protection Engineer vacancy should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
