Job Summary: The Finance Assistant will offer technical support to accounting function of MAP Uganda, Karamoja regional office with special focus on Supplementary feeding project and ReportingKey Duties and Responsibilities:  Support the immediate supervisor in recording and posting all transactions correctly into respective accounts and that the cheques drawn on MAP accounts must have the backup vouchers duly posted into the accounting system before any cheque is paid out.Ensure that all assets are identified and the asset register properly maintainedMaintain the staff debtors’ accounts ensuring that all imprests given to staff are accounted for in time. Advises supervisor on the each staff personal imprest account whenever requested. Support the  immediate supervisor in preparing periodic, quarterly and annual financial (project and program) reports.Support the Senior Finance Officer in monitoring the budgets for the regional office by producing budget performance reports on a monthly basis for the projects being implemented.Ensure proper coding of expenditure and provide report on all expenditures and advance overduePrepare petty cash request base on the approved petty cash levels.Reconcile supplier statements to purchase ledger.Register supplier invoices and distribute for review and approval with the relevant authorityEnsure the payroll deductions are correctly accounted for- remittances to the statutory bodies are remitted in time and proper custody of the returns is donePerforms any other duties as may be assigned by the immediate supervisorQualifications, Skills and Experience:  The applicant should hold a BBA or BCom (Accounting) – from a recognized university.Professional qualifications: Level 1 in either ACCA or CPA will be an added advantage. A minimum of three years working experience, in an NGO environment. Proven knowledge in accounting for USAID fundsProven knowledge of donor and general financial accounting procedures and clear understanding of Government of Uganda accounting requirementsPast experience working in auditing setting an advantage.Computer literacy with proven skills in using Microsoft Office and at least two accounting packages,Possess the ability to meet tight deadlines and commitment to duty.Excellent experience in budgeting and budget management.Excellent understanding of financial systems and procedures.Possession of good communication and administrative skills.Excellent communications skills – interpersonal, written and verbal.Possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to manage conflicts professionally and responsibly.Be a mature Christian with proven active involvement a local churchAll candidate should send an updated resume/CV, cover letter, statement of faith, previous salary history, minimum salary requirements, 3 professional references (e-mail address and phone number to include Supervisors), and a date of availability to mapuganda@map.org.Please include this “Finance Assistant” in the subject line.
