Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security in order to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 60 projects in 30 countries and total revenues of $173 million.

Deputy Chief of Party, Uganda

We are currently seeking a Deputy Chief of Party for an anticipated USAID-funded Feed the Future activity in Uganda titled Youth Leadership for Agriculture. This upcoming multi-year USAID-funded program in Uganda will focus on increasing economic opportunities for hundreds of thousands of Ugandan female and male youth ages 10 to 35 in agriculture-related fields in order to increase incomes and build entrepreneurship, leadership, and workforce readiness.

The Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) will work closely with the Chief of Party to manage the day-to-day operations of the activity. The DCOP will provide technical and managerial leadership and will focus on building partnerships with key stakeholders. In the absence of the COP, the DCOP will assume full responsibility for the Activity. The DCOP responsibilities for this program include but are not limited to the following:

Responsibilities:

Support the Chief of Party in attaining project goals and objectives by providing technical advice and direction when appropriate as well as administrative oversight.Provide technical leadership on facilitated market systems approach; market-driven technical skills development; and other activities that promote employment opportunities along the value chain for youth.Contribute to the cross-cutting goals of the program.Assist with management of relationships with local organizations, private sector stakeholders and government bodies.Prepare/assist in preparation of periodic written and oral reports to USAID and ACDI/VOCA headquarters.Review of all financial and logistical information on a periodic basisQuality control and timeliness of all deliverablesPreparation contribution to/of work plans, financial, logistical and other documents.Ensure effective contract management, reporting, communications and relationship management with USAID.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 8 years of experience in international development, preferably in agriculture, private enterprise development, or youth development.Excellent track record of achieving results in similar activities, demonstrated high level leadership, interpersonal, technical, and analytical skills.Minimum of a Master’s degree in agricultural economics, economics, business, international development, public policy, education, or other relevant field. A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with 12 years of experience may be substituted for a Master’s degree.Must be professionally proficient and fluent in written and spoken English.How to apply:
