Machinist/ Fitter – Kampala – Roofings Group - 2015

Roofings Group is a leading manufacturer of steel and plastic building materials within East Africa. Our head offices are situated about 6km outside Kampala city centre in Lubowa, along Entebbe road. Other group companies include; Roofings Rolling Mills (located in Namanve) and Roofings Polypipes (located in Lubowa).

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· The incumbent will interpret drawings provided, (dimensions and tolerances) using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and vernier calipers.
· Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
· Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
· He / she will also setup, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools in order to perform precision machining operations.
· Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
· Routinely monitor the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
· Good knowledge of material selection depending on the job provided.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Machinist/ Fitter must hold a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or its equivalent.
· A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar field
· Detailed working knowledge of lathe and milling machine.
