3. Title: Project Manager – Manafwa River Basin (1 Position)
Grade: UR5.1
Reports to: Senior Program Manager, Disaster Risk Reduction
Location: Mbale
Duration: Three Years
Job Summary:
The Project Manager will be part of the URCS Disaster Management (DM) and Organizational Development (OD) team, primarily responsible for the field level implementation support of the Manafwa River Basin Program in Bududa, Manafwa and Butaleja districts supported by American Red Cross (AMCROSS).
Specific Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Supports the development of project work plans with clear work breakdown structures and in line with URCS Strategic Plan and planning guidelines.
• Facilitates the team through the establishment of small-scale local level risk reduction projects and preparedness for response measures that strengthen disaster resilience through a community lead approaches.
• Accountable for the effective utilization and timely accounting of project resources.
• Generates and compiles project reports in accordance with URCS standards and donor requirements.
• Provides guidance to community groups during the project planning and management cycle; ensures linkages with stakeholders and assists in the development of M&E protocols.
• Checks and formulates appropriate risk reduction project interventions, ensures avoidance of mal-adaptation and guidance through planning and implementation.
• Guides the team in the development and implementation of DRR and M&E strategies and Strengthens M&E technical capacities in the region and branches.

Minimum qualifications and working experience:
The person must have a Bachelor’s Degree/higher education in M&E, Project Planning and Management. At least 3 – 5 years experience in active M&E and project management preferably in a humanitarian organisation. Experience of working on community managed risk reduction projects in rural areas is an added advantage. Experience in adult education is a plus. Knowledge of participatory development approaches. Experience in program planning and managing budgets is essential with USAID experience an advantage. Excellent interpersonal and” communication skills, sensitive to diversity, flexible and adaptable with strong analytical skills, computer literate, guiding baseline and other risk assessments, ability to work under pressure with limited supervision, team player, result oriented.
