Situated on Entebbe Road, Lweza, south of Kampala, Mildmay Uganda is seeking applications from experienced and motivated people interested in a rewarding career undertaking the challenging roles.Job Summary: The job holder will be responsible for participating in the development, delivery and monitoring of relevant and evidence-based training and education programmes aimed at building capacity of health care providers to deliver quality care and support for people living with HIV and other emerging health issues. The incumbent will be expected to lead on one of the long programmes and teach and assess students on both long and short programme. The expected result is the delivery of high quality programmes (long courses) and attracting adequate numbers of students in Uganda and the region to sustain the programme.Key Duties and Responsibilities:  1. Take a lead in marking of students’ assignments, ensuring that set guidelines and time-lines are adhered to: Receive scripts from the administrative assistant, ensuring anonymity of the students for fairness and objectivity.Assign specific markers to mark particular assignments for first, second marking and/or moderation.Review/familiarize self with the assignment guidelines to ensure critical understanding of the assignment for an objective view point.Carry out timely first marking, second marking and/or moderation of the given assignment as per the set guidelines to ensure consistency and comprehensiveness.Send scripts and feedback sheets to external examiner for scrutiny and receive external examiner’s report with details about the scrutiny process.Send written feedback and awarded provisional marks to administrative assistant for timely dissemination to students to ensure appropriate incorporation of feedback points in the next assignment.Actively participate in organizing the examination board meeting with the relevant staff for ratification of all the provisional course unit marks.Release of the final course unit marks.4. Reports to: Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences

Division: Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs)

Job Purpose:

The individual selected will teach and mentor counselling psychology Bachelors and Masters Students, provide university and professional service, and supervise students in completing dissertation.

Main duties and Responsibilities:

1.   Teaching normal workload of between 18 to 21 hours per semester.

2.    Prepare course outlines for all courses taught according to the University format.

3.    Prepare assessment tools and marking guides accordingly.

4.   Teaching and assessment of students in accordance with the University’s curriculum.

5.    Expected to be present for all lectures.

6.    Maintenance of regular office hours for attending to students’ questions.

7.    Participation in regular academic and administrative meetings.

8.   To chair and participate on ad-hoc or volunteer committees from time to time.

9.    Supervising students on placements – internships, research papers and projects.

10.  Advising students on academic issues.

11.  Should be willing to uphold the University’s instruments of Christian identity.

12.  Any other official duties as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirement:Qualifications and experience:1.    Doctorate in Counselling Psychology from a recognized university.2.   Applicants must be familiar with either qualitative or quantitative research methods and must show evidence of teaching ability and experience in counselling practice.3.   Applicants must also demonstrate experience, expertise, and interest in at least one of the following areas: (a) child counselling, (b) marriage/ family counselling, (c) HIV/health counselling, or (d) research methods and any other counselling courses.4.   Should have at least 3 years’ experience in teaching and supervising research for either undergraduates or postgraduate students in an institution of higher learning.5.   Should have published a minimum of two new scholarly articles in internationally recognized journals in their area of expertise.6.   Membership to a relevant professional body.7.   Must be a committed ChristianExperience:3 How to apply:

Qualifications and experience
