Specific Duties to be performed:  Identify and collaborate with NGOs involved in various local governance activities, in pursuit of more open decision making, transparency of municipal activities and services, and relevant rules and regulations granted under decentralization. Design and lead stakeholder forums and task forces that bring about better dialogue between civil society and local leaders and the national Parliament. Perform media relations related to more open society, and coach and counsel project staff on civil society relations.

Required Skills and Experience: Five years of experience in managing CSO programs, local governance training and capacity building, organizing advocacy efforts, or related   activities.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in management, sociology, training and development, or a related field.

Desired Skills and Experience: a leadership role in an NGO or a humanitarian program implementing organization

Research and product design will fall under the arm of the Mobile Financial Services incubator where the Project Director will oversee the team that will conduct in-depth research on customer financial services needs, convert those insights into product concepts, conduct rapid product testing, and developing pro-poor products and services.

About the Job:
Grameen Foundation is seeking a Director Mobile Financial Services who will be responsible for leading, designing, implementing and evaluating the mobile financial services initiatives in Uganda (based in Kampala) and will oversee the efforts of the two current mobile financial services programs.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Develop a public information program for this project component, to increase awareness of land rights and the processes available to redress land conflicts. 

Required Skills and Experience: Five years of experience in dispute resolution, conflict mitigation, peace and reconciliation, or related programs. Skill in negotiation in post conflict settings. Knowledge of the causes of ethnic and cultural conflict over land. Experience in coordinating agencies and NGOs around specific issues.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in management, public administration, conflict management, or a related field.

Desired Skills and Experience: Practical knowledge of cadastral program development. Law degree. Knowledge of the land ownership problems caused by oil discoveries.
