About the Global Health Corps Fellowship: Global Health Corps is a one-year paid fellowship that pairs young professionals with organizations (fellowship placement organizations) that require new thinking and innovative solutions. Fellows engage in professional development training, mentorship and thoughtful community-building, and continue to draw upon their fellowship experience and the GHC alumni network as they build careers of lasting impact.

About the Fellowship Placement Organization:

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization affiliated with The Johns Hopkins University. For 40 years and in over 155 countries, Jhpiego has worked to prevent the needless deaths of women and their families. Jhpiego works with health experts, governments and community leaders to provide high-quality health care for their people. Jhpiego develops strategies to help countries care for themselves by training competent health care workers, strengthening health systems and improving delivery of care.

Jhpiego designs innovative, effective and low-cost health care solutions to ensure a level of care for women and their families. These practical, evidence-based interventions are breaking down barriers to high-quality health care for the world's most vulnerable populations. Jhpiego has worked off and on in Uganda for nearly 30 years. In 2011, Jhpiego made a strategic decision based on country needs and interests from key stakeholders to establish a country office, with the goal of strengthening Jhpiego's support to Uganda's Ministry of Health. The fellows will actively participate in developing this exciting endeavor.

Fellowship Position Overview: The Knowledge Management, Communication and External Relations fellows will work closely with the Country Director and individual program managers to ensure that the Jhpiego-Uganda program is capturing and communicating program information effectively, using as many means as possible, to a wide range of external audiences in Uganda. The fellows will work with the Country Director to ensure regular and effective interpersonal engagements with key partners and stakeholders; and active external relations efforts that target many different groups, including partners at the community/district levels, decision makers in Kampala, and interested international audiences. Finally, these fellows will work with the Country Director to devise systems by which the external policy and programmatic environment is being monitored, and findings from this "environmental scanning" process are being incorporated into program planning and implementation. As core members of a small team, these fellows will be fully engaged in many aspects of program activity, and will have the opportunity to contribute their ideas on how to improve programs to better respond to the needs and interests of the external environment.

Responsibilities: *
Strategy Development:*

Read and become familiar with Jhpiego Communications ManualWork with the Country Director and individual program managers to develop an overall program external relations strategy:Help define means for regularly compiling and presenting program information to key in-country stakeholders using a variety of written, verbal and electronic approaches; and for tracking feedback received, so that it can be incorporated into program evolutionHelp to define and implement a plan for ensuring that Jhpiego-Uganda is well represented at the many meetings taking place in the public health realm, and that Jhpiego is contributing effectively to the dialogue that takes place through these meetingsHelp define a system for ensuring that Jhpiego is using these engagements as an opportunity to continually refine its understanding of the external environment in which it is operating, and to continually evolve its activities to respond to that environmentWork with the Country Director to develop effective knowledge management systems at the country level

Increasing Program Sharing and Visibility in Uganda:

Lead implementation of all of the strategies aboveWork with individual program managers to generate, document and share lessons learned from program activitiesDevelop a packet of compelling program information (and a system for ensuring that it is regularly updated), with an emphasis on presenting results of interventions and innovations, and lessons learned in the implementation processEnsure that all information/communication coming out of the program is presented in such a way that it gives a clear and compelling presentation, and reflects the innovation and effectiveness of the Jhpiego-Uganda programLead efforts to regularly share program information through multiple outlets (presentations, one-on-one meetings, comments at large meetings, written briefings, etc.)Work with the Country Director and program managers to ensure that Jhpiego-Uganda is regularly engaging with and providing the necessary program information to key partners and stakeholders through one-on-one interactions, and also through regular presence at meetings and other group forums

Contributing to Jhpiego's Global External Relations and Communications Efforts:

Coordinate and share in-country communications with Jhpiego's global External Relations and Communications officeLead on ensuring that Jhpiego-Uganda is contributing fully to Jhpiego's global efforts to tell the story of its great workLead the process of writing success stories and defining high level program highlights that can be widely disseminated in Uganda and globally through the External Relations and Communications (ERCO) team; submit photos, Facebook posts and short updates to ERCO for global disseminationKeep the Uganda portion of the Jhpiego website up-to-date

Required Skills and Experience:

Knowledge of the field of public health (either a degree that is related to public health, or experience working in a public health program)Ability to quickly understand both the theory and the practice of public health programming in a developing country is essentialOutstanding interpersonal skills; the ability to relate to a wide range of individuals, and to instill confidence and trustExcellent written and verbal communication skillsOutstanding presentation skillsThe ability to quickly learn and to write and talk knowledgeably about new subjects

Preferred Skills and Experience:

External Job Description Context/Scope:
EABL operates within a multi cultural, multi national, multi currency environment. EABL comprises five business units: KBL, EAML, CGI,SBL and UBL. UBL is further categorised into Demand and Supply. The Supply business is involved in production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and pushing the product to consumers. This role is located within the Demand Sales business. The CRR role will be critical to the overall UBL short, medium and long term strategy in developing and driving our trade strategy and operational excellence within retail outlets and distributors. The job holder is expected to have a high ability to build and develop trade relationships with outlet owners and staff / customers with high levels of respect/contact required. The job holder works closely with the AreaSales Manager and Divisional Sales Leader. This position is field based and the job holder is expected to manage outlets achieving Quality, Distribution, Visibility, Pricing and Promotion.
Purpose of Role:
To positively influence sales of UBL brands by regular contact, networking and motivation in allocated retail accounts and to operate a one portfolio UBL brand approach for both beer and spirits.

. Develop brand building activities for the outlet to implement, run retail promotion activities to plan and run KBL promotional activities in outlet, and do M&E for all activities done.
. Ensure full compliance of safety and governance requirements at the work environment.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
. A business related degree or equivalent.
. Commercial experience.
. Ability to build a strong understanding of a range of customers at the outlet level.
. Direct experience of working with customers at the outlet level and a good understanding of how Field Sales operates within the wider Sales organisation.
. Direct experience of the Diageo Way of selling capabilities with a focus on Sales Driver execution at the point of purchase (QDVPPP), Outlet Segmentation and Managing Relationships including structured call, persuasive selling and brand passion.
. Exposure to other parts of Sales, in particular Account Management teams and Customer Marketing.

Summary of Duties: Work towards developing and promoting the insurance sector within and outside Uganda.

Key Responsibilities include:

Act as the Public Relations Liasion Officer of the Association and issue communication in liasion with Chief Executive Officer.Prepare and oversee implementation of Public Relations and CSR programmes on an annual and mid term basis.Actively follow up and implement insurance sensitization programmes and design strategies for dissemination of insurance information to end users.Writing and distributing insurance related press releases to targeted media.Liaise and co-ordinate with organisations to which the Association is a member and participate in dialogue and forum as arranged from time to time.Identify information sources that need to be harnessed to build up an insurance information database.Prepare and recommend information, materials necessary for the establishment of a viable information centre at the secretariat and manage prompt and regular updates on the UIA website.Participate in research on domestic regional and international insurance issues and document of findings for information of members and action of the Secretariat.Serve as Liaision Officer with the Police departments in an effort to enforce Motor Third Party Insurance and arrange for the implementation related activities (including but not limited to Police sensitization programmes, road spot checks within and outside the central Police district.Assess and recommend training needs for members of the Association interested entities.Plan and prepare for conferences, seminars and workshops undertaken by UIA.Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Executive Officer.Requirement:Applicants should possess an honors degree in Mass Communication (with a bias in communication), or a Business related discipline.A recognized qualification in insurance will be an added advantage.Minimum of three years experience with a reputable PR firm 3). Public Relations Officer

Description:

MAIN TASK:
Reporting to the Communication and Public Relations Executive, the job holder will be charged with the day to day handling of Public Relations and Community related issues that require a communication intervention at REA.

The position entails enhancing the visibility of the Agency, build and maintain a positive relationship with the various publics (Government, Development Partners, Investors, beneficiary communities and the general public), through appropriate publicity and marketing of the institutional products and services to communities in rural Uganda and to liaise with other relevant stakeholders at a national and local level. The job holder will be a key player in promoting REA's corporate image and building and maintaining positive relationships with the public.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
The person selected for this position will be responsible for the following duties;
a) Implement awareness campaigns geared towards promotion of rural electrification,
b) Foster community relations through the provision of appropriate information, mobilize and sensitize them on procedures of getting electricity, productive use of energy including issues of health and safety,
c) Ensuring all responses on community schemes are correctly done and files kept up-to-date,
d) Plan and implement media and publicity programmes,
e) Handle media enquiries and media monitoring on all media outlets
f) Handle client enquiries and offer appropriate feedback in consultation with the head of the unit,
(g) Produce and disseminate the Agency publications (Annual reports, newsletters and brochures) including speeches,
h) Organising Corporate events including workshops, field visits and team building events,
( i) Work with other departments and units on issues pertaining to communications and Public Relations,
j) Update content on the website in collaboration with the IT Specialist,
k) Undertake any other duties assigned by the Supervisor.

Requirements:

Education:
a) Candidate must possess a minimum of a good Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism or Public Relations, OR
b) A good Bachelor's Degree in Social Sciences, Arts or Linguistics and a Post Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, Public Relations or Journalism from a reputable Institution.
Key Competencies:
a) Persuasive written and verbal communication
b) Good media relations and events management skills
c) Excellent command of the English language. Knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda will be an added advantage
d) Self motivated, creative, team player with a passion for excellence and quality and a demonstration of analytical thinking
