Uganda: Programme Director – Africa (Eastern and Southern Africa)
MONTROSE is an international development project management and consultancy company providing support to clients operating in the developing world. Specialized in the sectors of health, education, rural livelihoods and private sector development, our clients include bilateral and multilateral development agencies, the private sector, Non-Governmental Organizations and other development stakeholders.
We are seeking a Programme Director to manage the operations and activities of Montrose in Eastern and Southern Africa and develop new business for the company in the region. The Programme Director will be based in Kampala, Uganda, with frequent travel in the region.
Key Functions for this Position:
The Programme-Director will be responsible for:
· Project Management Oversight: oversee the management of contracts being implemented in the region, including providing troubleshooting support and inputs on strategic direction, managing project manager, review of project outputs.
· Project Management: The PD-Africa will also be expected to manage projects being implemented in the region.
· Operational Management for Kampala Office: administration oversight for Kampala office, financial management and oversight and human resources management.
· Business Development: identify opportunities with existing or potential clients and partners in the region, provide input into bids and upcoming initiatives.
· Company Representation:establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients within the region, representation of Montrose at events.
· Technical Oversight and Inputs:provide technical oversight for areas of expertise, supporting technical experts, reviewing quality assurance technical reports.
Required Experience and Competencies:
· Master’s degree in a relevant field
· Minimum of five years relevant work experience
· Work experience in international postings, preferably in multiple countries in Africa
· Excellent written and oral communication skills
· Excellent organisational skills
· Demonstrated initiative and supervisory skills
· Some management experience preferred
· Understanding of development agencies is desirable
· Private sector experience is desirable
· Demonstrated networking and representational skills with potential clients (development agencies and private sector)
· Technical knowledge of a relevant field (health, education, livelihoods) desirable
· Fluency in English is essential
· Fluency in a second language (French or Spanish/Portuguese) an asset
· Must have willingness and ability to travel in the region
