Organisation: Protecting Families against HIV/AIDS (PREFA)Duty Station: Kampala, UgandaProtecting Families against HIV/AIDS (PREFA) is an indigenous Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that was formed to contribute to Uganda’s efforts in enhancing access to quality HIV/AIDS prevention, care, treatment, and support services to families with historical focus on Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT).
Job Summary: The PREFA will offer technical support and guidance to the PMTCT implementing sites and partners where PREFA is working, including health facilities and communities in the districts.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
· Offer technical support to district health facilities to ensure quality, comprehensive and effective MNCH/MTCT services.· Coordinate the access to quality PMTCT, ART, RH, and nutrition services at PMTCT sites in line with MOH/MTCT services strategy.· Coordinate the development and implementation of cost-effective district work-plans and budgets, in line with MOH/ PREFA and donor funding requirements.· Prepare and submit program and financial reports to management in line with the reporting standards.· Work closely with private health practitioners to scale up the provision of comprehensive PMTCT services.· Technically support communication and marketing activities to ensure dissemination of information on the correct use of products for prevention and care in HIV/AIDS. Identify and organize training and supervision of key private health practitioners providing prevention and care services.· Increased demand for high quality, comprehensive PMTCT services.· Increased proportion of HIV infected pregnant women and their babies receiving comprehensive PMTCT services· Guarantee that more HIV exposed babies receive appropriate care and treatment.Perform any other tasks as identified by the head of the department.Qualifications, Skills & Experience:· The suitable candidate must have a first degree in health sciences (medicine, public health, nursing). Masters in Public Health is an added advantage.· Prior experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention and care, practical experience working with partners at district and community level in HIV/AIDS work and in health management.· A minimum of three years’ professional experience working in HIV/AIDS prevention and care. · Detailed knowledge and understanding of current issues and developments in the field of HIV/AIDS and especially PMTCT, VCT and ART.· Excellent networking, excellent verbal communication and writing skills.All suitably qualified and interested applicants should send a letter of application, copies of testimonials and certificates, current Curriculum Vitae, telephone contact and three professional referees.
