30 years.  Ambassador Scott H. DeLisi

currently heads the U.S Mission to Uganda. 

The Mission is composed of several offices and organizations all working

under the auspices of the Embassy and at the direction of the Ambassador.


Among the

offices operating under the U.S Mission to Uganda are:

(USAID)

Centers for Disease Control (CDC)

Peace Corps (PC)


The Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is an international public health agency

engaged in HIV prevention and care programs and research activities in

Uganda.  CDC offers excellent career

health professionals. The main CDC offices are located at the Uganda Virus

Research Institute (UVRI) in Entebbe.


Job Summary:  The Procurement Assistant will support the US

Embassy in the executing of the day-to-day procurement duties from inception of

acquisition to final rendering upon receipts. Assume duties of Procurement

Officer when absent.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:  


·        
Provide the CDC Procurement Agent with daily status

reports on all open Purchase Requests/Orders


·        
Carries out price/backup research for processing of

Purchase Orders/Contracts and all other applicable procurement modes. Obtains

competitive price quotations from both local and offshore vendors. Research is

carried out by e-mails, telephone and catalog reviews.


·        
The incumbent will also be responsible for

accomplishing local purchases with petty cash and typing out Purchase Orders.


Follow

up/Expediting of Orders:


·        
Issue purchase orders & makes request for

acknowledgement of orders and expected time of delivery from vendors. In case

of partial deliveries, ensures that the remainder of all partially delivered

orders are fully supplied by an agreed upon future date with the vendor. This

is handled by ongoing weekly communication with the vendor either through

e-mail, telephone calls or in person as needed.

Verify invoices by ensuring that they tally with

both the Receiving Reports and Purchase Orders. Once verified, the incumbent

will process payment by attaching copies of the Receiving Reports and invoices

to the original Purchase Order which is then forwarded to the Financial

Management Center (FMC) for disbursement.

The incumbent files procurement documents and

correspondence daily in accordance with the established procurement Standard

Operating Procedures.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:


NOTE:  All

The ideal candidate for the US Embassy Procurement

Assistant should hold a diploma in Purchasing and supplies or procurement or

related field is required.


·        
At least two years of progressively more responsible

experience in procurement is required.


·        
Detailed working knowledge of US Government

regulations and their application to specific situations, in-depth use of

catalogue and equipment indexes.


·        
Excellent organizational skills, sense of priority,

ability to understand and process various types of USG documents; computer

skills in various programs; ability to type at least 40 wpm, are all required


·        
Language Proficiency: List both

English and host country language(s) by level and specialization. Level III

English language capability (good working knowledge) is required.
