POST: ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT
REF: HRM/EOC/2010/14 Salary: Uganda Government Scale U7
Reports to: Senior Accountant
Minimum Qualifications
i) A Diploma in either Business Studies or Accounting or Financial Management from a recognized institution with and an Advanced Level Certificate with at least two (2) Principal Passes obtained at one sitting.
ii) A minimum of two (2) years working experience at the level of an Accounts Assistant or equivalent experience in a reputable organization.
iii) The following competencies are required:-
a) Financial management
b) Computer literacy
c) Communicating effectively
d) Ethics and integrity
Duties and Responsibilities
(i) Examining payment vouchers to ascertain date payment mode, payee and accuracy of signatures in accordance with existing procedures and rules, (ii) Posting entries and balancing the cashbook. (iii) Checking accounts for imprest vouchers, (iv) Paying advances as authorized, (v) Receiving in-coming cash and cheques, (vi) Paying correct salaries and annual increments whenever due and as instructed, (vii) Preparing pay change reports to effect changes on individual, personal and emolument changes as directed, (viii) Allocating monthly staff salaries to right programmes in line with the structure and deployment, (ix) Writing and balancing monthly salary vote books and keeping them within the budget, (x) Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
