Background

The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to build high quality care and prevention of HIV/AIDS and related infectious diseases through training, research, and advanced clinical services. IDI has four operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission; Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research; and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab).

As part of its activities to sustain its objectives, the IDI is involved in a study on prevention of HIV transmission among the HIV discordant Couples and is in a process of recruiting suitable candidates to fill the following positions:

Position: Study Physician

Responsibilities:
? Responsible for implementing study specific clinical procedures, performing physical and genital examinations of study participants as well as HIV related counseling.
? Prescribes medications for treatable medical conditions, and makes referrals to other agencies for acute medical conditions not covered by this research/ study,
? Participates in filling and reviewing case report forms and source documents and ensures integrity of study data through QA/QC activities/procedures.
? Participates in developing and implementing of standard operating procedures.
? Ensures adherence to set quality standards.

Educational Qualifications and Employment Experience
? M.B.Ch.B
? Registered with the Medical and Dental Practitioners Council

Other Skills and Experience
? Experience in working and/or management of HIV/AIDS or STDs
? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
? Experience in recording information for research purposes
? Ability to work as a team
? Experience in working in a clinical trials research setting is an
