Abi Zonal Agricultural Research and Development Institute is one of the Public Agricultural Research Institutes established by the National Agricultural Research Act, 2005. The institute is mandated to conduct applied and adaptive agricultural research in the West Nile Agro Ecological Zone under the policy guidance of the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). The Director Abi ZARDI invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following position at Abi in Arua.

Post: AGRO FORESTRY TECHNICIAN

Tasks and Responsibilities:
? Providing support to Scientists undertaking agro-forestry research
? Developing a field plan and preparing materials, measurement instruments and other supplies for undertaking field agro-forestry experiments
? Participating in baseline surveys to determine needs and agro-forestry production constraints as well as establish the impact of technology adoption
? Collecting data, specimens and samples at various experimental plots and analyzing data, interpreting results and documenting research findings
? Participate in developing and delivering education and training programmes to farmers and other stakeholders including students on visits and attachments
? Undertaking routine maintenance of instruments, equipment and facilities including installation and calibration
? Providing input on the development of the annual budget, especially item and cost specifications
? Conducting environmental monitoring and compliance activities for the protection of natural resources

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
? Applicants should posses a Diploma in Forestry or equivalent qualifications with at least three years relevant working experience with a reputable institution. Possession of a degree in Forestry is an added advantage.
? Applicants should not be above 40 years

Employment Terms:
Successful candidates will be employed on four years' contract renewable on satisfactory performance.
