Role (a) Preparing activity work plans and providing technical input in the budget preparation processes at the regional office.

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Assistant Accountant will be responsible to the Regional Human Rights Officer for effective and efficient implementation of activities of handling finances in the region through the accounts function.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The job holder will be responsible to the RHRO in the day to day management of the Region's financial resources but also has a line reporting relationship to the Project -Accountant and GOU - Accountant at head office in performing his/her duties which includes the following:
(a) Preparing activity work plans and providing technical input in the budget preparation processes at the regional office.
(b) Processing of payments for activities including withdrawals, banking and issuing out payments to facilitate field activities.
(c) Maintenance of an up-to-date stores inventory and records.
(d) Maintenance of up-to-date accounts records and accounts books, including writing vouchers, posting cash books, bank reconciliation and writing ledger records for activities of the region.
(e) Maintenance and issue of cash imprest and micro-
(f) Any other official duties assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants must be Ugandans in possession of minimum of the, fallowing, qualifications; A (diploma in Business Studies, Accounts, or Business Administration with Accounts as an option Obtained from a recognized and reputable institution. Equivalent levels of Accounting Professional qualifications will also be considered.

Experience and knowledge: (a) Prior Accounting experience of at least 2 years in a related field, (b) Knowing of GOU - Accounting practices and procedures, (c ) Knowledge of relevant accounting packages.
