Organization: The Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU)Reports to: Chief Executive OfficerThe Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) was establishment after The Accountants Statute No. 12, now the Accountants Act, Cap. 266 of the Laws of Uganda, 2000, was enacted in August 1992. ICPAU is the national professional accountancy body in Uganda, established by an act of Parliament. The Accountants Act, 2013 gives the Institute a legal mandate to:Regulate and maintain the Standard of Accountancy in Uganda.Prescribe and regulate the conduct of accountants and practicing accountants in Uganda.This includes conducting professional accountancy examinations in Uganda.Job Summary: The Compliance Management Officer will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Institute’s compliance activities.Key Duties and Responsibilities: Offer technical guidance on the Institute’s compliance efforts to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, codes of ethics and other guidelines.Maintain and update policies and procedures for the smooth operation of the Institute’s Compliance Programmes.Oversee the investigation systems of the Institute in matters to ensure compliance with existing laws, regulations, code of ethics, guidelines and practices for effective regulation of members of the Institute.Work closely with other departments to review compliance issues for effective investigation and resolution.Compile and prepare regular compliance reports for management and other organs of the Institute.Offer administrative support to the Disciplinary Committee.Regularly appraise the performance of the Compliance Programs.Take lead in the regulatory and compliance investigations of the Institute.Assist in responding to allegations of violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics. Assist in reviewing and/or evaluating resolutions of compliance issues.Give guidance and direction to the Disciplinary Committee and senior management on the potential compliance risks and how to mitigate them.Perform any other duties as may be assigned.Qualifications, Skills and Experience: The applicant must hold a Bachelors Degree in Laws with a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. Company Secretarial Qualification or Accountancy Qualification and /or Postgraduate qualification in compliance management is an added advantage.A minimum of four years’ experience in a regulatory environment, quality assurance, operations, audit, finance, and human resource management.Excellent negotiation and investigation skillsAll suitably qualified and interested candidates should write to the address below describing how they qualify for the position, quoting the Job Reference Number provided.
