Organization: Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA)Project Name: Accountability Can Transform Health (ACT Health)Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), is an international non-profit research organization. Based in New Haven, CT, with offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide, IPA works with development partners and academic researchers to create and evaluate approaches to solving development problems, to communicate “what works” in development and to scale up successful projects in a variety of fields, including health, education, microfinance, governance and agriculture.The Accountability Can Transform Health (ACT Health) project will be jointly implemented with GOAL Uganda. The goal of the project is to improve health outcomes in rural Uganda by improving the delivery of health services through a novel accountability and transparency intervention. The Principal Investigator for this project is Dan Posner (UCLA).Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Associates work closely with academic researchers and other field staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to:Managing several other project staffDesigning survey questionnairesCarrying out qualitative researchRunning pilot exercisesRefining study design and surveying instruments Managing survey teamsChecking and analyzing dataCleaning data and assisting in preliminary analysisAssisting in the writing of project reports and policy memosCoordinating with local partners running the programs being evaluatedSupporting outreach to policymakers in countryQualifications, Skills and Experience:The applicant should possess a Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, social sciences, public policy, or related fieldsPrior training in development economicsKnowledge of Stata (strongly preferred), SAS, or other data analysis softwarePrior work or volunteer experience in development in developing countries a plusExperience working with local government, especially in developing countries is also a plusExperience living and conducting field research in a developing country is a strong plusExcellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skillsFluency and excellent communication skills in EnglishFlexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team playerExtensive knowledge and understanding of randomized controlled trialsPlease follow the application instructions below.
