Organisation: Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL)Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL), a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to manage the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring. UEGCL is the implementing agency for the development of 2 power projects namely, the 600MW Karuma Hydro Power Project (HPP) and the 183MW Isimba Hydro Power Project (HPP).Karuma HPP is a Public Project being developed by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through a bilateral agreement with The People’s Republic of China. Sinohydro Corporation Limited was contracted as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project.Isimba HPP is a Public Project set to be developed by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through a bilateral agreement with the People’s Republic of China. China International Water and Electric Corporation is the EPC contractor for the project.Key Duties and Responsibilities:The Project Manager will offer oversight and technical guidance in order to assist UEGCL monitor the project implementation activities by both the Consultants and the Contractors. The Project Manager shall monitor the Consultants and Contractors’ management, coordination and control of engineering and construction of the project and advise UEGCL on any required actions to ensure compliance with the agreed responsibilities / risk undertakings in accordance with the project implementation plan and budget.Responsibilities:Coordinating various project management and monitoring activities which include but not limited to the following;Work in liaison with the Project Engineer in the various aspects of the project.Review of Detailed Drawings for Civil Works, Electromechanical and Hydro mechanical equipmentMonitor and control the Contractor’s stage of design, procurement, manufacture, and transport.Carry out regular workshop inspections.Provide Specialist Advice and site supervision of delicate tasks.Work in liaison with Surveyors for Field Works and ensure they accomplish their tasksPerform any other duties as required. Qualifications, Skills & Experience:The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, from a recognized university.Additional Post graduate qualification in project managementMembership to a professional body will be an added advantageAt least ten (10) years relevant experience in hydro power plants constructionThe applicant must have managed a project of the similar complexity i.e. at least 100MW in the last ten (10) years.Computer literacy skills Possess the ability to use engineering software would be an advantage.All applicants should send their applications with copies of academic testimonials / certificates and a detailed CV indicating two professional referees and their full addresses to: Manager, Finance and Administration, Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd, 3rd floor, UEDCL Tower Plot 37 Nakasero Road P.O.
