Assistant Project Manager Job Opportunity at Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL)


Organisation: Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL)Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd (UEGCL), a limited liability company incorporated in March 2001 with the Head Office located in Jinja, is one of the UEB successor companies. UEGCL’s key role is to manage the efficient production of electricity power through power plant development and concession monitoring. UEGCL is the implementing agency for the development of 2 power projects namely, the 600MW Karuma Hydro Power Project (HPP) and the 183MW Isimba Hydro Power Project (HPP).Karuma HPP is a Public Project being developed by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through a bilateral agreement with The People’s Republic of China. Sinohydro Corporation Limited was contracted as the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor for the project.Isimba HPP is a Public Project set to be developed by the Government of the Republic of Uganda through a bilateral agreement with the People’s Republic of China. China International Water and Electric Corporation is the EPC contractor for the project.Job Summary: The Assistant Project Manager will mainly monitor to ensure compliance with the agreed responsibilities in accordance with the project implementation plan.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for general project management and monitoring as well as provision of specialist advice and site supervision of delicate tasks.Work in close collaboration with the consultant to confirm the Contractor’s Drawings, review of the Contractor’s Quality Assurance Programme (QAP) and Quality Control Programme (QCP).Monitoring the procurements related to the project, witnessing factory acceptance tests and carrying out workshop inspections.Responsible for the coordination of the project implementation works in liaison with the Project Implementation Unit staff.Manage the site move-out process according to the agreed terms of project closure.Prepare a comprehensive Operation & Maintenance Preparations.Timely preparation of reports.Perform any other duties as required by the Project ManagerQualifications, Skills and Experience:  The candidate should possess a Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management, from a recognized university.A minimum of five years relevant experience in hydro power plants constructionPost graduate qualification in project managementMembership to a professional body will be an added advantageThe applicant must have been involved in a project of the similar complexity i.e. at least 100MW in the last ten (10) years.Computer literacy Skills Possess the ability to use engineering software would be an advantage.All applicants should send their applications with copies of academic testimonials / certificates and a detailed CV indicating two professional referees and their full addresses to: Manager, Finance and Administration, Uganda Electricity Generation Company Ltd, 3rd floor, UEDCL Tower Plot 37 Nakasero Road P.O.
