USAID Abt Associates Project Jobs - Human Resources for Health Officer


Project Name: USAID Integrated Health ProjectDuty Station:  Mbarara, UgandaAbt Associates, a global leader in research, technical assistance, and program implementation, seeks qualified candidates for a 5-year, Mbarara-based, USAID-funded integrated health project. The program will advance key aspects of USAID/Uganda’s HIV/AIDS, Health, and Education (HHE) strategy and expand the public sector's contribution to achieving the country's health goals. The program objectives include: Strengthening decentralized HIV/TB and other priority health service delivery systems; Improving the quality and efficiency of health services in facilities and communities; Strengthening referrals systems to improve access to, use and coverage of services; and Improving demand generation activities for services in communities. Job Summary: The Human Resources for Health Officer provides technical assistance whilst supporting the districts in planning, managing and developing the HRH workforce including implementation and technical quality of the project's HRH work. The incumbent ensures the provision of technical support for implementation of selected priority activities from the HRH Strategic Plan. The HR Officer steers activities that guide the districts to generate workforce information, applies workforce data to strengthen HRH policies and practices, and utilizes innovative approaches to strengthen the workforce. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  The ideal candidate for the Human Resources for Health Officer must hold a master's degree in a relevant discipline, prior donor-funded experience related to health, and an outstanding professional reputation. Past experience and exposure with USAID programs within the region desired. A minimum of eight years’ experience in HRH or relevant technical area.
