Community Linkage Coordinator

ICOBI operates in over 20 districts in Uganda with its headquarters in Kampala and regional liaison offi ces within districts of operation. As part of its growth strategy, ICOBI recently received funds from USAID under PEPFAR as a sub partner to implement the SUSTAIN Project in 15 districts of Uganda.

Therefore, ICOBI is looking for well qualifi ed, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fi ll 7 vacancies for the position of Community Linkage Coordinator at Regional/Referral Hospitals in the following districts Mbale, Soroti, Gulu, Nebbi, Moyo, Kaabong and Lira.

JOB TITLE: COMMUNITY LINKAGE COORDINATOR

REPORTS TO: COMMUNITY MOBILISATION TECHNICAL ADVISOR

Job Description:

Community Linkage Coordinator will be in charge of Regional Referral Hospital catchment area. He/she will directly supervise the work of Expert Clients, VHTs and other Community Health Workers in the catchment area. They will also ensure that all personnel working on the project exhibit teamwork essential for the furtherance of the objectives of the project he/ she will also ensure establishment of the
necessary linkages with all stakeholders in catchment area.

Scope of Work:
Ensure that communities are well mobilized, trained, knowledgeable, motivated and supportive to all ICOBI SUSTAIN program activities. Also he/she to ensure that correct and accurate HIV/AIDS program
information and services are availed to communities and particularly the target populations.

Responsibilities / Tasks:

1. Help in the establishment of a community based information system and referrals that will create demand for HIV/AIDS services.
2. Ensure that HIV positive clients receive basic care package
3. Develop linkages with the health care system in project area.
4. Assist in selection and retraining of Expert Clients for each parish
and replacement of inactive ones
5. Supervision, monitoring and supporting Expert Clients for proper community mapping of the target population for HIV/AIDS services
6. Participate in social support initiatives and monitoring community events regularly conducted by VHTs.
7. Ensure that there is cordial and harmonious working relationship between all Hospital staff and the community they are working with.
8. Disburse regularly care package to target benefi ciaries through outreach teams and ensure full and accurate accountability is fi led.
9. Help in establishment of Post Test Clubs (PTCs) at every parish
and sub county level for care and support to PHAs
10. Prepare monthly and Quarterly reports as required by the organization and Donors.
11. Safeguard and protect the company equipment (motorcycle) as well as any other property or asset and ensure their appropriate utilization.
12. Participate and assist in any other organization work required.

Minimum Qualification:
• A University degree preferably in Human Medicine , Nursing, Clinical Medicine or Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration or Public/Community Health.
• Should have at least three years of working experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment from a reputable organisation.
• A Certifi cate in HIV/AIDS counselling from a reputable institution is a must.

Additional Requirements:
• Knowledge in computer applications is a must.
• Proven experience in Monitoring and Evaluation of project activities
• Good report writing skills.
• Readiness to reach out and work with communities.
