Description

Work with the State Department's innovative Office of eDiplomacy to help bring online a new professional networking program and support ongoing projects including the CommunitiesState blogging program and Diplopedia wiki. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a Google - esque work environment with a great team and supportive customer. Ideal candidate has a passion for social media, public/foreign policy and the qualifications and requirements listed below.

Technical qualifications:

· Great communicator with the ability to translate the technology to a less technical audience

· Social media guru (professional experience utilizing social media to advance organizational objectives a plus)

· Web 2.0 and content management system (CMS) experience required

· STRONG HTML, CSS, Javascript, and PHP

· PHP MVC (Model View Controller)

· OOP (Object Oriented Programming)

· MySQL and MSSQL database experience preferred

· Comfortable operating server-side in cross platform environment (Linux and Windows) (system admin experience not required)

· Configuration and project management skills

Duties:

Candidate will be assigned responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Communicating and coordinating effectively with:

- other eDiplomacy staff;

- other offices and bureaus within State;

- personnel in other Federal agencies; and

- personnel working for foreign diplomatic missions, both American and local-hire staff.

· Providing strong technical and creative support in the troubleshooting of existing web-based technologies and development of new solutions.

· Helping with content-management duties on eDiplomacy websites.

· Helping with editorial functions of the Diplopedia wiki.

· Training users on Movable Type and MediaWiki as required.

· Administering user accounts and assisting users with common tasks in Moveable Type blogs.

· Administering user accounts and assisting users with common tasks in the Diplopedia wiki, which runs on MediaWiki software.

General Requirements:

· Requires bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent and 5 - 7 years of related experience

· Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Secret level government security clearance

· Working eight (8) hours p
