2. WASH Technical Lead based in Arua with frequent travel to Adjumani and Kampala

Period: 12 months (renewable)

Reporting to the Humanitarian Program Manager, the WASH Technical Lead will play a lead role in the development of Oxfam’s humanitarian WASH strategy in Uganda. S/he will oversee all aspects of Oxfam’s humanitarian WASH responses in Uganda including the South Sudanese Refugee response and other projects implemented directly by Oxfam as well as by partners in the country. S/he will work closely with UNHCR, OPM and other relevant WASH actors and represent Oxfam at field and national level in various humanitarian fora including sector specific coordination meetings to influence standards and ways of working. S/he will have technical oversight and support partner and staff capacity development through training of field-based based staff in integrated WASH to ensuring good quality programming and programme delivery

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and/or participate in multi-agency WASH needs assessments, Identify gaps in WASH services and recommend to Oxfam and partners the required course of action. S/he will provide technical support and guidance in designing and planning WASH  interventions in the operational areas, ensuring that WASH minimum standards and principles are met. S/he lead on programme implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation, ensure that consideration in health, nutrition as well as Gender and Protection are integrated into WASH programming. S/he will contribute to proposal development and review partnership proposals ensuring that all stages of the partnership grant process are followed..S/he will also support fundraising initiatives, monitoring of operational budgets and writing of interim and final donor reports.

To be a successful candidate for this role you must have a Degree Civil or Water Engineering from a recognized University and at least 4 years experience in integrated WASH programming relevant to humanitarian situations for IDPs/refugees in camps and other settings as well as development contexts. Experience in representing an organization at the level of local administration and supporting local civil society organizations as well as participating in WASH clusters, technical working groups is a key requirement. You should have excellent written and verbal English to report, motivate, influence, and negotiate effectively with other stakeholders. Knowledge of local languages such as Lugbara, Madi, Arabic as well as Swahili is an advantage More information and application procedure: Are you interested in this position?
