Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda


NIC Holdings is one of the

largest financial institutions in East Africa with a network of branches spread

across the country, offering a full range of insurance products and services in

Life and Non-Life insurance businesses and Financial Management. NIC Holdings

has two subsidiaries which include NIC General Insurance Company Limited and

NIC Life Assurance Company Limited.


Job Summary: The Head HR will be responsible for the overall

Human Resource function of the Company, by strategically developing and implementing

and the Corporation’s human resources management scheme in accordance with the

company’s vision, mission, corporate goals and governing policies and

procedures.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure

    proper implementation of Human Resource policies with the aim of retaining

    well motivated workforce.

  • Ensure

    manpower planning exercise is in line with the business goals of the

    company.

  • Oversight

    of the recruitment process including sourcing, interviewing, reference

    checking and delivering of induction training.

  • Make

    sure that staff performance appraisals are conducted in a fair way and are

    submitted on time.

  • Design

    and implement manpower training and development programmes in order to

    build an effective workforce capable of achieving the Company’s set

    objectives in a cost effective manner.

  • Ensure

    that the Corporation operates in compliance with national labour

    legislation and ensure proper health and safety at work.

  • Initiate

    budget estimates and monitor budget implementation for the Section.

  • Generate

    monthly, quarterly and annual reports to Management on human resource

    activities for internal use.

  • In

    charge of employee welfare, industrial relations including grievance handling

    to ensure satisfaction among staff.

  • Manage

    staff disciplinary procedures in-line with the company policy.

  • Perform

    any other duties that may be assigned from time-to-time by the Managing

    Director


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The

    applicant should hold a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from

    a recognized University.

  • Possession

    of Professional qualification is an added advantage

  • The

    candidate must have at least eight (8) years, 5 of which must be at Senior

    Level.

  • Computer

    literacy skills
