Peace Building Officers / People to People Training Officer – War Child Canada



About US:
War Child Canada is an international charity organization that works with war-affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunity and justice. In Uganda, through its Youth and Peace Building Programs, War Child Canada builds refugee and Ugandan youth capacity to live peaceful and productive lives. War Child Canada will now be implementing the USAID funded programme Suluhu: promoting Cross Border Peace Building through Youth Engagement in the refugee settlements of the West Nile region and Kiryandongo. War Child Canada also implements SGBV prevention and response programming, namely the BPRM funded program Safe from the Start.


Job Summary: The Peace Building Officers / People to People Training Officers will be responsible for the development and roll out of the peace building and training activities aimed at refugee and host community youth. The job holders will be responsible for conducting in depth training sessions on the People to People model as well imparting peace building skills to promote youth led harmony amongst refugees and host populations.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and facilitate training sessions
· Prepare communication and training materials and develop new peace building and training approaches.
· The applicants will prepare and submit narrative reports on activities and recommend improvements to the programme.
· Make follow up visits in each community after activities to document impact, and strengthen referral network.
· Perform any other related duties as shall be assigned by the supervisor.


Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· The Peace Building Officers / People to People Training Officers should hold University degrees in Law, Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies or related field.
· Working knowledge in participatory methodology to facilitate trainings with community.
· Proficiency in computer packages such as (MS Word Excel Power Point and Database).
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
· Ability to prepare timely, periodic and quality project and monitoring reports.
· Fluency in English and local language is essential.
