Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) was established in 1992 by a Statute of Parliament, to coordinate and harmonize the national response to HIV/AIDS.
One of the core functions of UAC is “to establish an information base on HIV and AIDS in Uganda” that will “collect, analyze, and disseminate information on the HIV/AIDS epidemic and its consequences.” To do so, UAC set up the National AIDS Documentation and Information Centre (NADIC) in 1994, to act as a national HIV and AIDS information hub with the necessary capacity to fulfill its role and contribute to evidence-based policy, programming and decisions making by major players.
We are recruiting long term technical assistance to support the following functions at the Commission.
Job Title: Publications/Audio Visual Officer
The overall purpose of the Technical Assistance (TA) is to support production of information and communication products , facilitate the popularization of AIDS competence and strengthen and build capacity of the human resource in NADIC for two years.
Reports to:
Director Planning, and Strategic Information
Key Duties and responsibilities:
• Develop HIV/AIDS information/knowledge management policies, strategies and plans;
• Enable and facilitate knowledge sharing communities and networks;
• Develop and review tools, standards and methods for information collection and management;
• Support production of HIV/AIDS audio-visual material;
• Develop publications/ Information materials for the HIV/AIDS response
Person specifications:
1. Qualifications:
• A first degree in mass communication / Information science from a credible institution
• A post graduate degree in communication.
2. Experience:
• Experience of 3- 5 years in a public or private reputable organization in a similar or related position.
• Extensive experience with publications, including web-publishing;
• Strong experience with publication software;
• Solid experience producing training materials, including E-learning tools;
• Professional photography experience;
3. Skills and Competencies:
• Strong communication skills,
• Experience with non- linear editing systems and image manipulation and editing programs
• Ethics and integrity
