About URC ASSIST Project:


University Research Co., LLC (URC), a US-based public health

organization working in Uganda since 2005, is implementing the USAID Applying

science to strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST) Project which is a five-year

cooperative agreement dedicated to improving health, population and nutrition

services through technical support to service delivery institutions, country

Ministries of Health, USAID country missions, and cooperating agencies.


Job Summary: The USAID

ASSIST Quality Improvement Advisor will support MoH in planning and

implementing activities aimed at improving quality of care in districts and

referral hospitals, in collaboration with other partners.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Technically support QAD to plan for

    quality improvement with partners anti districts;

  • Carry out capacity building activities for

    quality improvement;

  • Convene and conduct quality improvement

    performance review meetings and other fora needed to achieve the

    objectives of QAD;

  • Actively participate in compilation and

    submission of periodic performance and progress reports;

  • Supervise and mentor regional referral

    hospitals, districts, and health facilities across the country;

  • Develop guidelines and strategies for

    quality improvement; and,

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the

    supervisors


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate should hold an MBChB

    and post graduate degree in public health, or equivalent

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in

    Health services management in public health care setting.

  • Past experience and training in quality

    improvement approaches.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in

    supporting teams to apply Quality Improvement approaches or monitoring and

    evaluation is an added advantage.
