HIV/AIDS/ TB Care and Treatment Advisor. – Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI)

Reports to: Head of Department
The HIV/AIDS/ TB Care and Treatment Advisor will provide technical support to ensure timely and quality accelerated HIV/AIDS service delivery. The incumbent will provide ongoing technical assistance to project technical and DHTs; on and off site support/capacity building; mentoring and supervision; quality assurance; and support ongoing review of Adult HIV/AIDS care delivery models in supported Districts.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
In charge of the design, monitoring and reporting on key activities related to HIV/AIDS/TB treatment scale up.
Support mentoring activities for HCWs in relation to HIV/AIDS/TB care and treatment.
Technically support roll out of National HIV treatment guidelines and other related guidelines in HIV/TB care.
Provide on call/distance TA support for the handling of complicated cases.
Technically support Quality Assurance of HIV/AIDS/TB services at facilities and recommend corrective action.
Provide technical guidance in planning related to HIV/AIDS/TB care and treatment for the key thematic areas.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate should hold an MBChB and a Master’s Degree in Internal Medicine or related field
Five or more years of HIV/AIDS/TB clinical experience.
Specialized training in HIV/AIDS is an added advantage.
Active Registration with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council is required.
Significant experience providing technical assistance to large scale HIV/AIDS HSS interventions within MoH structures and systems.
Comprehensive knowledge and experience in HIV/AIDS/TB management Clinical HIV/AIDS/TB experience and proven record of mentoring HCWs in HIV/AIDS/TB management.
Good working knowledge of HIV/AIDS/TB programs, strategies, processes and techniques used to plan, develop, implement and evaluate results or HIV/AIDS programs.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team
Working knowledge of USG programming policies and regulations, MoH and district procedures and practices.
Fluency of the local languages within the supported districts is desirable.
