Patents
The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is established as a
Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210, Laws of Uganda 2000 Edition. The Bureau is a
key player in commercial and civil registrations that facilitate private sector
development and vital statistics for national planning.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of the examination of
applications of patents, utility models and industrial designs assigned by
the Senior Examiner. - Keenly examine foreign applications
received from ARIPO and WIPO assigned by the Senior Examiner. - Carry out technical searches and write
search reports. - Carry out public awareness about
intellectual property rights to research institutions.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Receive patent applications and conduct
searches. - Carry out preliminary and substantive
examination. - Search reports written.
- Conduct public training in search and
examination and drafting patent applications.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Examiner
Patents should hold an Honors Degree in Engineering or Biochemistry or
Pharmacy from a recognized University. - Possess excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Computer literacy skills
