Uganda, Currently, Save the Children has a staff complement of over 200

our work around 52m directly and 91 million indirectly around the world.
Job Summary: The Save the
Children Senior Officer Education will be responsible for providing ongoing
capacity support and coordination of all project partners with project
planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation and reporting. The Senior
Officer is responsible for the oversight of the Education Programming
activities, providing on-going, support in planning, implementation, monitoring
& evaluation and reporting in regard to the execution of the Education
activities within the vulnerable communities targeted by Save the
Children. The incumbent will take
responsibility for support of the Education Project to promote safe, supportive
schools and communities that increase vulnerable and conflict-affected children’s
participation. The post holder is specifically oriented towards Basic Education
and Early Childhood Care and Development and special attention will be made on
Education sector in other core sectors of the organisation such as nutrition,
health, Child Protection and child rights programing. The job holder may be
called upon as and when necessary to support the emergency team in cases of
humanitarian crisis.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The prospective Save the Children Senior
Officer Education should at least hold a Degree in Humanities or a
relevant discipline. Additional or
post graduate qualification in Early Childhood Care and Development, and
Basic Education is an added advantage - A minimum of three or more years of
progressive experience in programme development and management with INGOs. - Past experience of working with local
partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health,
Nutrition, Education, HIV/AIDS or Child Protection is an added advantage. - Excellent analytical skills and strategic
planning abilities. - Possess the ability to establish and
maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member
of a team. - Willingness to travel and work in
hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions. - Computer literacy and excellent
documentation skills are a must. - Availability and willingness to work extra
hours during times of humanitarian responses. - Highly developed cultural awareness and
ability to work well in an international environment with people from
diverse backgrounds and cultures. - Possess the ability to intervene with
crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary. - Exceptional interpersonal and
communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching. - Excellent time management and planning
capacity.
