JOB SUMMARY:
GRI is recruiting for an experienced Senior Gender Advisor for an anticipated USAID-funded Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Program. The Advisor will have overall accountability to ensure strategic development, delivery of project results, and client satisfaction for gender justice programming. The Advisor will report to GRI’s President and the Deputy Chief of Party – Technical.
This position in open to Tanzanian citizens only.
This position is contingent upon funding.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Gender Advisor will have the following responsibilities:
Oversee strategic development and program deliverables for gender programming
Work with USAID partners to develop gender responsive indicators and evaluation mechanisms for programs across sectors
Conduct field research to monitor program achievements
Conduct gender equality training for USAID partners
Coordinate and oversee research activities of short term advisors
Serve as primary point of contact (POC) for client and program team on gender issues
Oversee production of consultant reports and other project deliverables
Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual reports, work-plans, and success stories as required by client and GRI
Travel to regions
Perform other duties as assigned by GRI President or Chief of Party – Technical
QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree in gender, social science, health or similar required; PhD preferred.
Ten (10) years experience developing and managing gender programming and M&E activities; 15 years preferred.
Additional experience with training and capacity development preferred.
Fluency in English required. Additional local languages a plus.
Prior experience working on USAID programs required.
Excellent management and administrative skills.
High level of interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to effectively interact with all levels of staff, U.S. and foreign government personnel, members of donor organizations, funders and policy makers
Self-motivated and well organized.
Ability to work collaboratively, supportively, and respectfully with others.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility and willingness to travel
