The Medical Research Council/ Uganda Virus Research Institute
(MRC/UVRI) Uganda Virus Research Unit on AIDS was established following a
request in 1988 from the Uganda Government to the British Government for
collaboration on the research of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infection
and AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency). The Unit is working on the Ebola Vaccine
trial “A Phase 1 Study to Evaluate the Safety, Tolerability and Immunogenicity
of Heterologous Prime-Boost Regimens Using MVABN ®-Filo and Ad26.ZEBOV Administered in Different Sequences and Schedules
in Healthy Adults. ”
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- In charge of screening, recruitment and
follow up study volunteers - Render support in clinical care to study
participants and initiate referrals as appropriate - In charge of prescription of
Investigational Product (IP) - Responsible for the collection and
documentation of data as required by the protocol - Supervision of junior clinical and other
research staff - Actively participate in protocol
development and other study related materials - Perform any other duties assigned by the
Principal Investigator and/or Project Leader
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
- The applicant should preferably hold an
MBChB or equivalent. - A minimum of two years of
post-qualification professional experience. - Registration with Uganda Medical and
Dental Practitioners Council. - Training or experience in clinical
research would be an added advantage. - Excellent interpersonal/communications
skills. - Fluency in verbal and written English.Good
understanding of Luganda. - Highly organized, detail-oriented and
self-motivated. - Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
