WEI/Bantwana Initiative is a

Non-Governmental Organization that helps families and children orphaned and

made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS to access the comprehensive support and care they

need to grow into healthy adults.


The Bantwana Initiative of World

Education is implementing the USAID’s Better Outcomes for Children and Youth in

Eastern and Northern Uganda program—a $24.5 million program with a large sub

grant component. The Program is being implemented across 13 districts in

Eastern and Northern Uganda. Better Outcomes works with families, communities,

Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Local Government and the private sector to

address the long-term, comprehensive needs of vulnerable children and families

through improved OVC service delivery.


Job Summary: The Grants

Manager will provide overall leadership and support in the management of all

the partner grants to ensure appropriate spending in accordance with

partnership agreements and grant regulations and guidelines.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Finance Director in all grants

    management, contract management, and compliance aspects of the program;

  • Regularly review grants invoices and

    accountability and provide capacity building activities related to

    financial tasks of grantees.

  • Make sure that all consortia grants are

    well administered (including maintenance of comprehensive grant files) and

    implemented in compliance with the relevant donor regulations and

    WEI/Bantwana procedures.

  • In charge of monitoring of all grantees to

    ensure the proper implementation of sub-grant activities.

  • Organize grant monitoring meetings with

    partners to ensure that grants are implemented in compliance with the

    WEI/Bantwana and relevant donor regulations, to ensure strong financial

    management, to ensure the proper operational openings and closings of grants,

    and to ensure monitoring and evaluation of programmatic progress.

  • Manage the grant close out and

    modifications procedures

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by

    the Finance Director / management.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate for the USAID OVC

    Project Grants Manager placement should hold a first degree in Finance or

    related field;

  • Possession of professional accounting

    qualification will be an added advantage

  • A minimum of six or more years’ experience

    working on large project and experience with USAID funded

    programs/projects necessary, particularly experience with USAID grants

  • Experience with accounting software,

    preferably Quickbooks

  • Possess a high standard of personal and

    professional integrity

  • Willingness to work as a team member,

    taking on additional tasks as needed to ensure the overall success of the

    project

  • High level of attention to detail, ability

    to multi-task and work well under pressure

  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal

    skills

  • Possess the ability to work under pressure

    and in a culturally sensitive environment
