The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) is established as a

Statutory Body under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau Act Cap. 210,  Laws of Uganda 2000 Edition. The Bureau is a

key player in commercial and civil registrations that facilitate private sector

development and vital statistics for national planning.


Key Duties and

Responsibilities: 

  • Keeps track of received data and source

    documents.

  • In charge of preparing and sorting source

    documents, and identifies and interprets data to be entered.

  • Contacts preparers of source documents to

    resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.

  • Enters alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic

    data from source documents into computer following format displayed on

    screen, and enters necessary codes.

  • Confirms accuracy of data.

  • Compares data entered with source

    documents, or re-enters data in verification format on screen to detect

    errors.

  • Regularly reviews and makes necessary

    corrections to information entered.

  • Compiles, sorts, and verifies accuracy of

    data to be entered.

  • Processes various forms.

  • Renders support in establishing and

    maintaining an effective and efficient records management system.

  • Compile and submit reports and responds to

    inquiries regarding entered data as requested.

  • Contributes to a team effort and

    accomplishes related results as required.

  • Maintains confidential information

  • Perform any other job related duties as

    assigned.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Computerized data index maintained.

  • Quality assurance done.

  • Searches conducted.

  • Backup copies prepared.


Qualifications, Skills and

Experience: 

  • The Data Entry Clerk should hold an Honors

    Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology.

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a

    busy and corporate environment or a combination of education, training,

    and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities

    necessary to perform the position’s essential duties and responsibilities.

  • Additional training in a professional IT

    field is desirable and will be an added advantage.

  • Computer operation skills in database

    maintenance

  • Excellent interpersonal communication

    skills.

  • Working knowledge of assigned program

    activities guidelines and processes

  • Possess the ability to operate various

    work-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs.

  • High level of confidentiality.

  • Interact and maintain good working

    relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.

  • Communicate efficiently and effectively

    both verbally and in writing.

  • Carry out multiple tasks and meet

    deadlines.

  • Ability to follow instructions furnished

    in verbal or written format.

  • Detail oriented.
